October 29, 2015
Halloween is just two days away, but there's still plenty of fall fun to squeeze from this most colorful and crisp of seasons! Need help thinking of things to do? Here are just a few of our favorite outdoor activities to enjoy during autumn! If you see something missing from our list, be sure to let us know, Oceana!
1) Go on a nature hike.
Venture out to your favorite park near Oceana and keep your eyes peeled for bright, colorful foliage. Take leaf and bark rubbings to capture the interesting, varied textures of nature.
2) Go apple picking.
No autumn is complete without a trip to the apple orchard or pumpkin patch. Take a hay ride, run through a corn maze, and be sure to return to Oceana with enough apples to bake a pie or make applesauce! Follow this link for a list of pick-your-own farms in southeastern Virginia.
3) Go camping.
Fall is the perfect time to go camping, as the changing foliage lends an extra element of beauty to nature hikes and outdoor pursuits. Plus, the air is a little cooler, which makes campfires and cuddly sleeping bags even more inviting. Don't forget to bring along s'mores fixings and your favorite ghost stories!
