Tell Us, Oceana: What’s Your Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition?
November 13, 2015
Can you imagine a Thanksgiving without your family's secret recipe for stuffing? Or without a slice of pumpkin pie for dessert? It's safe to say that Thanksgiving is a holiday deeply rooted in tradition, but what about those traditions that take place off the dinner table? Here are few Thanksgiving traditions to consider adopting this November 26!
1) Break the wishbone. Set aside the wishbone from your Thanksgiving turkey, then at some point during the meal, have two people pull apart the bone. Whoever ends up with the larger piece of bone is said to receive good luck!
2) Hit the pavement. On the weekend before Thanksgiving (and the morning of the holiday), look around to see if any turkey trots are taking place near Oceana. Lace up your sneakers to burn off some calories before your Thanksgiving feast. Some families enjoy tossing around the pigskin or heading out for a leisurely stroll before or after their meal.
3) Give back. Volunteer at a local soup kitchen, donate clothing and food to a community drive, or make some other contribution that benefits the less fortunate.
