What’s Your New Year’s Resolution? Here’s How to Keep it in 2017!
January 3, 2017
Whether you want to get fit in the new year or achieve a career goal, there are a number of great ways to improve your life through your New Year's resolution. While many people give up on their resolution before January even ends, it's easy to stay focused on your goal as long as you keep it reasonable and stay dedicated all year long. Here are a few tips for choosing a great New Year's resolution — and sticking to it.
- Choose a resolution that's specific and attainable. Instead of vowing to get a perfect body in 2017, create a more specific, reasonable resolution, such as losing 10 pounds or running a marathon. By choosing a goal with results that you're actually able to monitor, you'll be more inclined to stick to it.
- Keep track of your progress. Use a calendar or a journal to track your progress. You can use it for things like mapping your workouts, writing down your career goals, or listing all of the books that you vow to read throughout the year.
- Use the buddy system. If you think that you'll have a hard time staying on track, enlist a friend with similar goals and combine your efforts. The two of you can work out together if your resolution is to get fit, or you can share money-saving tips if your resolution was to get out of debt.
- Reward yourself at the end. Create a personal reward that you can only get once you meet your resolution. If you wanted to travel more in 2017, go on a dream trip after you save up enough money; if you wanted to get a promotion at work, treat yourself to a new tech gadget to help you at your new job. Sometimes all it takes it a bit of extra motivation to keep you on track!
